Newsreels

A newsreel is an aggregate of periodic film-parts (topics) united by general subjects. Newsreel parts contain information about life of a country, internal and international political events, achievements of science, technique, agriculture etc. Newsreels began to be issued in the beginning of XX century. First Russian newsreels were being produced since 1918 on Moscow and Petrograd film studios.

Daily News / A Chronicle of the day

The newsreel "Day news" was being issued from 1944 to 1992 5 times per month. The events of country life, internal and international political events became themes of parts usually. Famous soviet film directors Dziga Vertov, Esfir Shub, Eldar Ryazanov etc. were authors of parts of the newsreel in different times.

Foreign chronicle

The newsreel «Foreign chronicle» was being issued from 1955 to 1989 and represented a cinema-review of international events, told about life of foreign states, acquainted spectators with other countries, their history, culture, political structure and social order.

The newsreel «Soviet sport» was being issued from 1954 to 1987. Parts of newsreel have been dedicated to a sports life of the country: the Olympic Games, the championships, stories about various kinds of sport, well-known sportsmen became themes of parts of "Soviet sport".

The newsreel "Soviet warrior" was being issued from 1961 to 1991. Newsreel parts were telling about military service, combat arms, achievements of the country in a field of military technology, history of army, military doctrines and other spheres of army life.

The newsreel “Soviet army” was being issued from 1968 to 1983. Parts of the newsreel were dedicated to history of the army, told about military service, veterans of wars as well as about way of life, studies and rest of conscripts.

The newsreel “Soviet cinema” was being issued from 1965 to 1987. Parts of the newsreel told about history and development of Soviet cinematography, acquainted spectators with various film studios, represented actors, directors, composers and other figures of cinema.

The newsreel "Pioneerhood" was being issued from 1954 to 1987 and has been dedicated to youth and childhood theme. Newsreel parts illustrate a life of schoolboys, activity of Pioneer organization, tell about studies, way of life and rest of children in former USSR.

A Coeval

The newsreel "Coeval" was being issued from 1968 to 1993 and has been dedicated to life of youth. Parts of newsreel told about activity of youth organizations, educational institutions, youth creativity and other spheres of life of youth.

Moscow

The newsreel "Moscow" was being issued from 1972 to 1987. This newsreel told about capital of Soviet Union as about cultural, historical, political and scientific centre of country, narrated about history and a development of the city, about its inhabitants, an infrastructure, cultural-historical values.

Around the USSR

The newsreel «Around the USSR» was being issued from 1961 to 1988. Newsreel parts told about Soviet Union, about the Soviet republics, cities of the USSR, their inhabitants, about the past and the present of the country, about development of industry, agriculture, education, medicine, culture, sport and about other achievements of the USSR.
