The film tells about the most important events in the life of ancient Russia in the 14th century under the Tartar yoke, of the development of the Moscow principality as a political, cultural and defensive center around which starts to develop edtnoe Russian state. Much of the film is devoted to the main historical event of the era - the Battle of Kulikovo. The film used the documents, pictorial representations of events of the 14th century icons.
