One of the main methods of processing potash ores is flotation.

The concept of flotation.

Most minerals are well wetted with water and sink.

If the minerals are affected by flotation reagents, they cease to be wetted with water, because they are covered with a film of flotation reagents.

If air is blown through the pulp, a mixture of minerals with a mother liquor, then the non-wettable mineral particles stick to the air bubbles and float to the surface of the pulp in the form of foam.

Water-soaked mineral particles sink to the bottom.

There are five types of flotation reagents.

Silvinite crushed in the mine, with a piece size of less than 200-250mm, is loaded into the hopper of the crushing shop.

The ore crushed in the mill is fed to a vibrating screen by means of a swinging feeder, where it is divided into two classes.

Crushed ore with a lump size of less than 15 mm is sent to the bunkers of the processing plant.

From the bunkers, with the help of feeders and belt conveyors, the ore enters the rod mill, where wet grinding is carried out.

A pulp is formed.

The pulp falls on arc sieves, where ore grains are classified by flotation size.

De-cluttering is performed.

For the flotation of sludge, reagents collectors are fed into the pulp.

Free slurries pass into the foam product.

The foam product from the slurry flotation machine is sent to the cleaning machine, where the remaining potassium chloride particles are released from the sludge.

Then the foam product of the sludge cleaning enters the thickener to clarify the circulating liquor.

The condensed sludge is sent to the sludge storage, and the clarified solution is returned to production.

For processing ore with a clay content of more than 3%, multi-stage desliming schemes are used.

In the machine, the pulp treated earlier with reagents is aerated.

A foam product is formed.

The pulp is pumped into a tank with a stirrer.

Then it is sent to the main flotation machine.

Flotation machines are working.

Flotation of fine-grained silvinite pulp in one of the standard flotation machines.

The machine consists of several interconnected chambers.

A centrifugal impeller is located at the bottom of each chamber.

The de-cluttered silvinite pulp is fed into the receiving pocket.

From where it enters the bath chamber together with air bubbles and is supported in a suspended state by a rapidly rotating impeller.

The foam is discharged from the machine through a hole located in the foam chute.

The pulp passes through all the chambers sequentially.

The mineral particles that are not carried out by air bubbles to the surface are removed for dehydration, and the foam product is re-cleaned.

After cleaning in the machine, potassium chloride is sent to a centrifuge for filtration.

An automatic continuous centrifuge provides humidity of no more than 6%.

Filtration occurs under the action of centrifugal forces developed by the rotation of the rotor.

Flotation of coarse-grained silvin, which has the best physical and agrochemical properties, does not dust and is suitable for dry flour mixing.
