The "Vzglyad" program presents the documentary "The Team" about the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Eduard Shevardnadze to the countries of Africa.
The film tells about the work not only of one of the most famous politicians, but of all those people whom we viewers are accustomed to ignore in the frame, or at all we do not suspect about their existence.
Meanwhile, the success of a responsible event depends, among other things, on the clarity and coherence of the actions of all these people - the minister's team.
The interview involved: the crew of the aircraft (deputy commander of the 235th detachment Nikolai Linnik, commander of the ship Anatoly Veselov, flight attendant Elena Tischenko), Assistant Minister Teimuraz Stepanov, cook Valentin Zhitarev, doctor Vasily Nesterov, head of the farm Alexander Zaitsev, Sergei Kiselev and Typist Vera Schekotova, secretary of the minister Andrei Nesterenko, security representative Dmitry Kazachkin, correspondent of the USSR State Radio and Television Sergey Shamarin, the head of the African Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR Yuri Yukalov, the first secretary of the African Department of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alexander Ivanov, Yuri Merzlyakov, Minister Vitaly Churkin, adviser to the US and Canadian Department of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs and translator Pavel Palazhchenko.
The minister himself talks about his working days, beginning with the daily routine and ending with foreign policy, an opinion on the restructuring and the optimal mechanism for the development of the country's economy.
In the film there are footage of issues of the program "Time" and brief reports about the countries visited by EA Shevardnadze (characteristics of political and economic situation, peculiarities of social life).
