The program about the American playwright Tennessee Williams and his most significant works, on the basis of which dozens of movies were shot and a vast array of theatrical productions all over the world was created.

Williams is very fond of in Russia and Europe, he is deservedly recognized as a genius of the XX century, and his name is known to every fan of the theater.

In many theaters, with constant success, there are still performances on his plays, and only at home his work is devoted to unjust oblivion.

In Russia, to the works of T. Williams, a special attitude, perhaps due to the fact that we are close to his peace of mind, his kindness, sympathy and love for people, his gift to accept life in all its diversity and oddities.

The fate of this amazing person who has been looking for love all his life passes through his plays, which, in the opinion of critics, resemble the works of Chekhov and Dostoevsky, and he himself also always loved Russian classics.

Perhaps, in part, therefore, there is something elusive in his works that allows every director and actor to disclose this in himself anew.

The program uses excerpts from American feature films and Soviet film productions, produced on the works of T. Williams in different years: "The Night of the Iguana" (1964, directed by D.Houston), "Sweet Bird of Youth" (1962, directed by R. Brooks), "The Cat on the Hot Roof" (1958, directed by R. Brooks)  "Suddenly last summer" (1959, director DL Mankevich); "Sweet-nosed bird of youth" (1978, director VN Shilovsky), "Orpheus descends into hell" (1986, directors A.V. Burdonsky, V.N. Zobin), "Tram" Desire "" (1970, directed by A.A. Goncharov), "A cat on a red-hot roof" (1989, directed by A.A. Goncharov).

The presenter tells about the most popular and little-known plays in Russia, such as "Glass Menagerie", "Tattooed Rose", "Something is vaguely, something clear "and some others, whose events, too, are to some extent inevitably connected with the author's life and experiences.
