Plot summary:

In 2001, Viktor Afanasyev's family wrote to us about the program for the first time.

They asked for help.

My son disappeared from the army, from a unit in the Kaliningrad region, in 1993.

My mother (Vera Vasilyevna) received an official letter with the text: "Your son voluntarily left a part."

The Afanasievs wrote to the program three times.

No news, of course.

And suddenly, two messages-responses in a row - on September 6 and 7 of this year that Vitya was found in Kaliningrad…

Vitya grew up as the eldest in a large family.

He has three sisters and a brother.

He grew up diligent, kind, nice, helped his mother, nursed the little ones, planned to earn well so that no one needed him at home.

After school, I went to work, and when it was time to go to the army, I went without hesitation.

I got into the rocket troops.

First, to school (in the Moscow region).

Everything was fine there.

Then to the Kaliningrad region, to serve.

They beat me there.

Strongly.

Escaped. (How he escaped-he does not remember, he remembers that he was in the hospital, he remembers that he was severely beaten....

And then the forest, the broken head and the hammer next to it).

And he disappeared for 17 years for his family.

Because I didn't remember anything at all after I woke up in the woods....

During this time, as we have now found out, I lost my memory (as a result of an injury in the army), wandered around, forgot about my family, and became attached to strangers.

He began to call the woman who sheltered him-mom.

And then, suddenly, two years ago, I remembered my last name.

Just recently I realized that he has a mother and father, I remembered the home phone.

I called.

Now he communicates with his family, but so far he has not seen anyone.

On November 8, 2010, the case against Viktor Afanasyev was dismissed on the basis of paragraph 2, part 1, of Article 24 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation.
