June 28, 1961, Alma-Ata met at the airport a coffin with the body of MOAuezov, delivered from Moscow; were met by relatives and friends, among whom were Dinmukhamed Kunayev and Kanysh Satpayev.
Farewell passed in the Theater of opera and ballet named after Abai.
The funeral took place at the Central Cemetery.
With the writer, Dinmukhamed Kunaev, Kanysh Satpayev, Sabit Mukanov, Gabiden Mustafin, Kenen Azerbaev said goodbye.

Azerbaev K. -- Kazakh akyn and Zhyrau, singer, composer, member of the Union of Soviet writers and the Union of composers of the USSR, the people's akyn of Kazakh SSR, Honored art worker of the Kazakh SSR.
