In 2013, it is planned to launch into orbit the Spectrum-X-Ray-Gamma observatory, a unique space telescope of domestic origin.

Within four years, the ROSITA and ART-XC X-ray telescopes installed on the satellite will examine the entire sky with record sensitivity.

Spektr-RG will help discover several million active galactic nuclei, from which scientists observe the history of the growth of supermassive black holes and the evolution of galaxies.

Sergey Popov talks about other tasks of the Russian observatory, including the study of the mysterious "dark energy", as well as about the most high-profile astrophysical discoveries of 2012.
