The program theme is "The Defeat of Soviet Genetics.

VASKhNIL Session, 1948. Beginning in the 1930s, biological science in the USSR turned into an arena of stormy passions and dramatic events.

The destinies of some people were broken, while the careers of others reached unimaginable heights.

The discoveries of geneticists Weissman A. and Morgan T., as well as their followers, including the prominent Soviet biologist Vavilov N.I., were completely rejected by the Soviet party leadership and some pseudo-scientists.

After the infamous VASKhNIL session in August 1948, genetics was banned, and biological science in our country was headed by T.D. Lysenko for many years.

The name of Lysenko is associated with a campaign of persecution against geneticists, as well as against his opponents who did not recognize "Michurin genetics."
