The program's topic is "The Fight Against Rock 'n' Roll in the USSR", the creation of the Leningrad Rock Club and the Moscow Rock Laboratory.

Exactly 20 years ago - in 1982 - the Central Committee of the CPSU issued a resolution on the fight against negative tendencies in youth culture.

Taking the salute, local ideologists diligently set about eradicating sedition among Soviet youth - primarily foreign music.

Numerous "artistic councils" cut the programs of school and university discos, domestic rock groups were obliged to perform songs by Soviet composers.

And the word "rock" itself was actively forced out of the official language.

Publications about Western music appeared extremely rarely in the press (perhaps only in the magazine "Rovesnik" and "Komsomolskaya Pravda") and were exclusively critical.

Domestic musicians were forced to go "underground".

In private studios they recorded "magnetic albums" and organized house concerts.

The authorities responded with police terror: Romanov A. and Aizenshpis Yu. were jailed on trumped-up charges, Aguzarova Zh. was placed in a psychiatric hospital, Khavtan E. was detained several times.

The situation was changed by perestroika, when in 1986 in Leningrad and in 1988 in Moscow, though still under the auspices of the Komsomol, a rock club and a rock laboratory were created.

Participants: Gakkel V. - musician of the group "Aquarium", Khavtan E. - leader of the group "Bravo", Romanov A. - leader of the group "Voskresenie", Lipnitsky A. - musician of the group "Zvuki Mu", critic, journalist Troitsky A., Shevchuk Yu. - group DDT, Smirnov Ilya - member of the Rock Laboratory.

Video: Galyamin S. - organizer of underground concerts in the Kurchatov Institute's Community Center, Kinchev K. - leader of the Alisa group, Grebenshchikov B. - Aquarium group, Mikhailov N. - director of the Leningrad Rock Club, Kutikov A. - Mashina Vremeni group, Chilap Oleg - Optimalny Variant group, Tsoi Viktor - Kino group, Rybin A. - Kino group.
