Boris Fedorov from 1980 to 1987 worked as an economist, senior economist in the Main Currency and Economic Administration of the USSR State Bank.
From 1987 to 1989 - senior researcher, senior research fellow at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the USSR Academy of Sciences, in 1989-1990 - referent of the socio-economic department of the CPSU Central Committee, Member of the CPSU until August 1991. He was part of the team of authors of G. A. Yavlinsky, who developed the "500 days" program.
From July 1990 - Minister of Finance of the RSFSR [1], but in December 1990 he resigned after the government rejected the "500 days" program.
