Eduard Shevardnadze 68 years old President of Georgia in 51 graduated from the party school under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Georgia, the History Department of the Kutaisi Pedagogical Institute, party career that began in 1946 was crowned by the appointment in 1972 to the post of First Secretary of the Communist Party of Georgia and Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPSU simultaneously worked in the Supreme Soviet of Georgia, and then the Soviet Union.

In 1985, Shevardnadze took the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the USSR and became one of Gorbachev's closest associates in perestroika in December 1990 publicly declared the onset of dictatorship in the country and resigned.

After August 1991, he again headed the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs; in March 1992, he returned to Georgia and became the Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Georgia; six months later, he was elected Chairman of the Parliament, and on November 5, 1995, the head of the Georgian state.

The Georgian intelligentsia calls his city the guarantor of peace for Russia.
