"The Limitless Mode" or the Gromov Flight Research Institute.

In the late 1930s, when the Khodynka Field near Moscow became too crowded for aircraft, construction began on a new airfield and a settlement named after the founder of Russian aerodynamics, Zhukovsky.

Three months before the war, an order was issued to organize a Flight Research Institute on its basis, the first director of which was the legendary pilot Mikhail Gromov.

More than 60 years have passed since then.

Everything that has flown and flies in the Russian sky, took off on the runway of the Gromov Flight Research Institute, from the Pe-2 bomber to the Buran orbital spacecraft.

Today, this unique scientific, technical and flight test complex remains the heart of the Russian aviation industry.

Although attempts to sell it at auction have been and continue to this day, the institute lives its own difficult life.

The remarkable scientists of the Gromov Flight Research Institute are working on the problem of overcoming hypersonic space, and test pilots are “testing” the 5th generation of aircraft in the air.

Its field is used for MAKS, one of the three most grandiose air and space shows in the world.

Only here are aircraft tested for strength, stability, and controllability, and the people who pilot them trained.

Only on this base can the future of the domestic aviation industry be modeled.
