Launch of the Arktika-M meteorological satellite from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on February 28, 2021. Interview with comments from Roscosmos Director General Dmitry Rogozin.




On February 28, 2021, the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle with the Fregat upper stage and the Arktika-M spacecraft was successfully launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
This is the first Russian spacecraft for monitoring the climate and environment in the Arctic, its mass is 2.2 tons, the estimated service life is 7 years.
The Arktika-M satellite was created to operate in a highly elliptical orbit and will solve problems of meteorology, hydrology, and agrometeorology.
