Mikhail Ardov is the son of writer Viktor Ardov and actress Nina Olshevskaya.

Mikhail Ardov graduated from the journalism department of Moscow State University in 1960. He was a professional writer.

He was baptized in 1964. Since 1967, he was a subdeacon at the Church of the Mother of God on Ordynka.

In 1980, he was ordained a deacon in Yaroslavl at the Church of St.

Innocent, Metropolitan of Moscow.

In 1980, he was ordained a priest by Metropolitan John (Wendland); he served in village parishes of the Yaroslavl and Moscow dioceses.

In June 1993, he left the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate and transferred to the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad, becoming a cleric of the Suzdal Diocese headed by Valentin (Rusantsov).
