began his career at the Novomoskovsk Chemical Plant in the Tula Region;

worked at enterprises in Belarus;

since 1982 - Director of PO Ammofos; 1986-1989 - Head of the All-Union Association of the Industry of Chemical Plant Protection Products, then Head of the Main Scientific and Technical Directorate of the USSR Ministry of Fertilizer Production;

since 1989 he again worked as General Director of PO Ammofos in Cherepovets until its privatization and transformation into a joint-stock company; 1990-1993 - People's Deputy of the Russian Federation.
