On November 15, 1988, the superheavy rocket Energia with the Buran ship was launched from Baikonur.

As it turned out, this was the first and only flight of the ship that was ahead of its time.

Alexander Kozlovtsev, the leading engineer of the Buran spacecraft, Leonid Kadenyuk, the test pilot, Yuri Semenov, the chief designer of the Buran, Oleg Baklanov, the former Minister of General Mechanical Engineering of the USSR, Sergey Sergeev, a participant in the launch of the Energia-Buran system, Oleg Ostapenko, the head of Roscosmos, recall the creation of the Energia-Buran system and the historic launch.
