Outwardly, the spacecraft are similar, like twin brothers, but they differ in scientific tasks.

Photon-M No. 4 is designed to conduct experiments in orbit in the field of space technologies for the production of semiconductors in microgravity, biotechnologies for obtaining new knowledge on the physics of weightlessness.

The plot starred Alexey Voloshin, Valery Abrashkin, Vladimir Sychev, Vyacheslav Ilyin, head of the laboratory of the IMBP RAS, Rustam Berdiev, leading researcher of the IMBP RAS, Sergey Solovyov, head of the laboratory of the Research Institute of Human Morphology.
