Soviet investigative commission in the Katyn forest near Smolensk, an investigation in connection with the discovery of a mass grave of Polish officers.

The commission includes academician Nikolai Burdenko, Metropolitan Nikolai, writer Alexei Tolstoy, and the daughter of the US ambassador to the USSR, Kathleen Harriman.

The graves are opened, the remains and letters found are examined.
