Shostakovich laughs (1993)

The film is based on the story of D.D. Shostakovich's work on the opera "Antiformalist Paradise", in which he parodied Stalin's and Zhdanov's quasi-philosophical demagogy, ridiculed the fruitless political discussion about the nature of the lezginka, and quoted the wild speeches of the so-called art critics in civilian clothes.

The choir, orchestra and soloists of the Moscow Musical Chamber Theatre under the direction of B.A. Pokrovsky perform the opera "Antiformalist Paradise" (synchronized).
