The consequences of the global arms race for the environment (1993)

Materials for a story about global contamination with radioactive waste.

The story uses footage from Soviet and foreign newsreels of different years, dedicated to the production and testing of nuclear weapons, newsreels of military exercises and long-range missile launches, tests at the Semipalatinsk test site, and various statistical data.

Also included are the opinions of participants in the Krasnoyarsk scientific and practical seminar of radioecologists from Siberia and the Far East, interviews with residents of the contaminated zone as a result of the accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, filming in Zheleznogorsk, at the Krasnoyarsk Underground Mining and Chemical Combine and the unfinished RT-2 plant for the restoration of spent fuel from nuclear power plants.
