The topic of discussion is the death penalty.

Public opinion on the death penalty has always been divided.

On the one hand, the modern standard of living and moral and ethical norms dictate the need to be civilized people and get rid of the remnants of the past, in particular, from cruelty, which in all ages was more than enough, on the other-it is unclear how you can expect the families of victims of humility in the face of irreversible tragedy and unwillingness to demand just retribution.

Police Colonel Yuri Petrovich Dubyagin, judges of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation Anatoly Leonidovich Kononov and Anatoly Usoltsev, correspondent of the newspaper "Izvestia" Konstantin Kedrov, chairman of the Human Rights Committee of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR Sergey Kovalev, deputy Galina Starovoitova, representative of the Society for assistance to Prisoners Marina Runshitskaya, lawyer Andrey Rudakov participate in the conversation.

The program uses fragments of the documentaries "The Supreme Court" and "Faces of Death", as well as a story from the colony H240/5, where pardoned death row inmates are serving their sentences.
