Chronicle of 1985: the icebreaker Vladivostok goes to the aid of the expedition vessel Mikhail Somov trapped in ice. Newsreel from the 1950s: construction of the settlement of Mirny, a scientific center for the study of Antarctica; Soviet scientist-researcher M. Somov and Australian polar explorer Philip Lowe walk through the settlement. Newsreel from the 1960s: meeting in Mirny the first plane that arrived with cargo for the winterers. Residential buildings in Mirny, the power plant building. All-terrain vehicles move around the settlement. The inland station Vostok.
