Operational and tactical exercises "Atom-96" in the Saratov region

July 1996. Russia. Saratov Region. Special units of the Federal Security Service of Russia and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation practice measures in case of terrorists penetrating the territory of a nuclear power plant during the planned operational-tactical exercises "Atom-96" on the territory of the Balakovo Nuclear Power Plant. The exercises are being conducted to check the reliability of the protection of ecologically dangerous objects and to develop effective measures for further strengthening their protection.
