Construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline

USSR. Buryat ASSR. Members of the Komsomol-youth team of track fitters of construction and installation train No. 581 of the Nizhneangarsktransstroy trust of A. V. Bondar, during the ceremonial laying of the symbolic "silver" link at the Shivery siding near the village of Vitim on the western section of the Baikal-Amur Mainline. The "silver" link was laid to mark the end of the laying of the main railway track in the Buryat Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic and the transition to track laying in the Chita Region.
