Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Exclusion Zone in Kyiv Oblast

Archpriest Methodius of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church from Kyiv, who came to visit the "squatters", in a forest affected by radiation, in the thirty-kilometer exclusion zone after the nuclear accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant named after V. I. Lenin. On April 26, 1986, an explosion occurred at the fourth power unit of the NPP during equipment testing during the reactor shutdown for routine preventive maintenance.
