Exploration of the Plosky Tolbachik volcano in the Kamchatka region

October 1-8, 1976. USSR. Kamchatka Region. Descent of employees of the Institute of Volcanology of the Far Eastern Scientific Center of the USSR Academy of Sciences into the crater of the Plosky Tolbachik volcano, which had become more active, to study its crater. A team from the Institute of Volcanology, headed by glaciologist Andrei Ivanov, with the help of climbers, found a way to the bottom of the crater, the depth of which had increased from 80 meters to 350.
