Astronomer F.Yu. Siegel

USSR. Moscow. August 1967. Mathematician and astronomer, associate professor of the Moscow Aviation Institute Felix Yuryevich Ziegel (left) during a demonstration to a representative of the press of a section of a larch tree that grew in the area where the Tunguska meteorite fell in 1908. Based on the annual rings of the section, F. Yu. Ziegel concludes that the Tunguska meteorite was a cosmic body with nuclear fuel and that the radiation after the explosion caused accelerated plant growth.
