Polesie State Radiation and Ecological Reserve

Belarus. Gomel region. Checkpoint at the entrance to the Polesie State Radiation and Ecological Reserve, organized after the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Employees of the reserve, which occupies 215 thousand hectares, conduct scientific research on the impact of radioactive contamination on flora and fauna, develop a program for the rehabilitation of wildlife, increasing the number of rare species of animals, birds, and plants.
