An unusually shaped pine tree, preserved by liquidators of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident after cutting down the forest, which had been contaminated by radioactive substances after the explosion in the fourth power unit of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant on April 26, 1986. The tree, which the Nazi occupiers used as a gallows for captured partisans, was left as a monument to the Great Patriotic War, and a memorial was built under it. Valery Zufarov/TASS
