On February 28, 2021, the launch of the Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket with the Fregat upper stage and the Arktika-M spacecraft was successfully completed from the Baikonur cosmodrome.

This is the first Russian spacecraft for monitoring the climate and environment in the Arctic, its mass is 2.2 tons, the estimated service life is 7 years.

The Arktika-M satellite is designed to operate in a highly elliptical orbit and will solve the problems of meteorology, hydrology, and agrometeorology.

D.O. Rogozin is a statesman, diplomat, Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation (2011-2018), Director General of Roscosmos (since 2018).
