The film tells the story of the last years of Russian commander Alexei Brusilov. The film uses his diaries, letters, memoirs. The film includes footage "the royal chronicle", dedicated to the Russian army, newsreel footage 1st World War, the events of February and October revolutions of 1917 and the Civil War.
