On June 22, 1963, Moscow solemnly welcomed Soviet cosmonauts Valery Bykovsky and Valentina Tereshkova.

Annotation:

Pre-flight training of the USSR pilot-cosmonauts V. Bykovsky and V. Tereshkova in special chambers, on simulators; parachute jumps, training in the gym. V. Bykovsky and V. Tereshkova in space suits before the launch. Meeting of pilot-cosmonauts V. Bykovsky and V. Tereshkova after the completion of space flights on the spacecrafts "Vostok-5" and "Vostok-6" at the Vnukovo airfield, Red Square. V. Bykovsky and V. Tereshkova report to N. S. Khrushchev on the fulfillment of the task. Rally of representatives of the workers of Moscow on Red Square. Speeches by V. Bykovsky, V. Tereshkova, N. S. Khrushchev (synchronously) from the rostrum of the Lenin Mausoleum. USSR pilot-cosmonaut Yu. A. Gagarin is present. Demonstration of workers on Red Square. A formal reception at the Grand Kremlin Palace. L. I. Brezhnev presents V. Bykovsky and V. Tereshkova with government awards: the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star of the Heroes of the Soviet Union medals. Those present congratulate the cosmonauts on their awards.

On the Mausoleum tribune are cosmonauts V. Tereshkova and V. Bykovsky. V. Bykovsky, preparing for an unprecedentedly long space flight, undergoes tests and hardening in special chambers and on special exercise machines, plays sports (weightlifting, trampoline).

The Il-18 plane with the cosmonauts on board flies by. V. Bykovsky and V. Tereshkova exit the plane and walk along the red carpet to the podium, where they report on the successful completion of the space flight (synchronously). N. S. Khrushchev and other leaders of the party and the Soviet government greet the heroic cosmonauts.

The cosmonauts embrace their families and friends.

Muscovites gathered at the airfield greet the heroes.

Cars with the cosmonauts, their families, and leaders of the party and government drive along the streets of Moscow, heading to Red Square.

Cosmonauts V. Bykovsky, V. Tereshkova, and party and government leaders N. Khrushchev, L. Brezhnev, A. Mikoyan, and M. Suslov exit the Lenin Mausoleum and ascend the tribune. N. Khrushchev, V. Bykovsky, and V. Tereshkova stand hand in hand; pioneers present them with flowers.
