At all times and in all countries, people wanted to have a greater amount of gold.

In Russia, too many have tried to find gold for centuries, but the first time it was possible to make a simple peasant in 1745.

After 70 years, gold production was put on stream.

Its peak reached Russia in 1913: 49 tons.

Just before the revolution received 3,000 tons, and the Russian ruble became one of the most stable currencies in the world.

But after the October revolution, gold production declined dramatically: in 1920 produced less than 3 tons in 1921 to 2.5 tons.

C came to power, Stalin's gold reserves began to grow rapidly and by 1941, reached a historic high of 2800 tons.

War and the subsequent reconstruction of the country is greatly exhausted him, but then again started climbing, and after the death of Stalin in 1953, the reserve amounted to 2500 tons.

However, since the mid-1970s, gold began to squander, selling for a song, and although in the center of Moscow continued to carry the gold bars, Treasury of every day was noticeably deserted, January 1992, gold reserve was only 200 tons.

All this time the state continued to hold a monopoly on the gold mined and abandoned it only in 1998.

From that moment the gold reserve was transferred to the management of the Central Bank of Russia.
