At all times and in all countries, people wanted to have a greater amount of gold.

In Russia, too many have tried to find gold for centuries, but the first time it was possible to make a simple peasant in 1745.

After 70 years, gold production was put on stream.

Its peak reached Russia in 1913: 49 tons.

Just before the revolution received 3,000 tons, and the Russian ruble became one of the most stable currencies in the world.

But after the October revolution, gold production declined dramatically: in 1920 produced less than 3 tons in 1921 to 2.5 tons.

All this time the state continued to hold a monopoly on the gold mined and abandoned it only in 1998.

From that moment the gold reserve was transferred to the management of the Central Bank of Russia.
